it has one of Europe's largest shopping malls the iullius mall, most all of the major names in retailing are represented somewhere in this city. it also has a good airport with good connections to Europe and beyond. daily scheduled flights to and from Bucharest and Budapest.

Delloite and Touche the world wide firm of accountants have offices here. as do many other international companies, it is well known for its IT expertise with many students studying media and IT related studies.

it boasts a vibrant night life with many variants of restaurants and clubs and bars, from Chinese to Indian, Greek and traditional restaurants combined with some of the countries top world class night clubs based here, this is a city definitely on the map for living and certainly worth a stopover.

flights from Bucharest to timisoara are about 30 mins to 45 mins, by road its about 8hrs from Bucharest.

flying in to Bucharest then to timisoara on a transfer you could be on skis on the Transylvanian alps within 5hrs from London.

Investment potential

most of the city is well developed but the outskirts are expanding rapidly, there is a metro (makro) 1km from the city and land from the city limit to here is changing hands fast. its ripe for commercial and residential development but the investor has to have some serious capital to begin to compete land here is not at the low end of the Romanian market. but you pay for what you get. here is a thriving city full of potential and lots of bodies to make it work.

the Nitty Gritty

you need to be looking starting at 50 euros a m2 for land, building costs are still cheap, but apartments and housing are well sought after and not easy to come by at a low price, its a case of shopping hard and well, they exist but beware the areas. more specific details on properties available are here
